Birdland

Open today from 1000 until 0400

Absolutely fabulous day! Park full of birds / flamingoes / emu's / penguins / tortoises / small adventure playground / sandpit / dinosaur trail. Perfect for all ages. Dinosaur trial was great-with lots of big beasts to spot. Plenty of toilets as park is not too big. We watched the penguins being fed (2.30pm). This was great! No parking on site but car park down the road had plenty of room (£4 all day). Cafe served plenty of choices of food for everyone but loads of picnic benches and places to eat a picnic. Reasonably priced and save 10% booking online beforehand too. Highly recommend!!!

Birdland is located in the famous ‘Venice of the cotswolds’ Bourton on the water which is well worth a visit in itself but by also visiting Birdland you can really make a day of it! There are 2 car parks located within a stones throw, they are actually both opposite each other, one is a hard standing council one (more expensive) or opposite there is a sports field that volunteers open to raise money for local causes & it’s usually around £4 for the whole day! Check in at Birdland is usually pretty straight forward (we have been on sunny weekends & during the holidays) and it’s never been to crowded however the often always seems to be a que for the ladies toilets but this us Mamas are used to! There are hundreds of variety of birds from around the world including Flamingos & the only King Penguin group in the country! Penguin feeding takes place twice a day so check the board for timings (located next to the penguin pool) There is also a Jurassic journey through a wooded type nature reserve, it is packed full of statues of every Dinosaur known to man along with plenty of readable & audio information points, Dinosaur fans will love this & there is also a sanded fossil hunt for the kids to dig away in. Back inside the park there is a petty area of Giant tortoises, various reptiles & rabbits, again this is a scheduled activity so check the board outside the gates to this area for its opening times. We have been to Birdland on a few occasions now & it’s always an enjoyable day out, we have both eaten in the cafe & taken a picnic. The cafe is nice enough but rather basic so after using it on our first visit here we have since brought picnics & found there is quite a few spots you can eat in, one inside the Jurassic journey & one near the petting farm. Upon exit you will go through a small gift shop where everything is reasonably priced with plenty of pocket money type toys. The park is wheelchair friendly & there is a disabled toilet which also houses the baby changing unit. Highly recommended for all ages.
