We LOVED Dinky Street!!

This fab new role play streat opened earlier this year (April 2019) for children aged 0-7 years with some specific sessions for SEN and older children.

Just 2 months after opening Dinky Street won the Gloucestershire Muddy stilettos 'Newcomer' award!

We visited Dinky Street on a Saturday over the bank holiday weekend, the weather was glorious and it was still the school holidays on our visit. Checking in is easy with a large shelving unit to leave your shoes etc along with loads of leaflets on other local children based groups or activities which was nice to see. To enter the play area you get buzzed in/out and for safety reasons the entrance gate is locked!

I'm not going to give too much away on the exact activities in each room otherwise it will ruin the surprise! BUT... on entering, the first room is large and spacious offering a baby/crawler area with sensory toys and a dressing up section for the older children. Following this there are 5 different role play rooms - ‘Dinky Discounts', 'Dinky Diner' 'Dinky Delights' 'Dinky Depot' & 'Dinky Doctors' each room is beautifully laid out offering each child plenty of activities so their imagination can run wild. My son is almost 2, he absolutely adored the Dinky Diner & Dinky Discounts areas and we spent most of our time here in one room or the other. Every aspect was immaculately clean and everything was in a safe and functional condition (which for a hygiene conscious parent like myself ticks so many happy boxes)!

Something that was really nice to learn is they have a 30 minute gap between each play session, which they use to tidy up all the rooms and restore them to there original layout (plus checking for any breakages etc) so when you arrive for your play session everything is as good as new - this really goes to show how passionate the owners are in providing a really lovely play area. I wish other places did the same! 

There were about 34 people in our session, with a capacity per session of 70, so 34 made it a really lovely experience as I personally struggle with the chaos of a full house anywhere!

Dinky Street also offer a separate party room and can be hired for birthday parties.

There is also a simple cafe on site serving hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cakes which is more than enough as your play sessions are not long enough to require more.

One adult and infants under 1year are FREE! (Additional adults are £3.50)

They are located within an old Doctors surgery housed between shops. The entrance to Dinky Street is on the roadside via steps or a ramp, giving both access for Prams and Wheelchairs. The whole building is wheelchair friendly but access could be a problem in some of the rooms. Prams can be stored in the lobby as you arrive, however Dinky Street are happy for you to take them inside the play strees should a young baby be more comfortable.

There are 2 unisex toilets on site, one standard toilet and the other offering disabled access and baby changing.

They have 1 allocated Disabled space at the rear of the building and further parking can be found just a few yards away on the opposite side of the road at either the Library or Tesco.

Dinky Street is open 7 days a week.

Each play session lasts 1hr 30mins and each session has a specific time window. They highly advise to book in advance via their website so you know when each session starts and to avoid disappointment should you arrive when they are fully booked.

Kids must wear socks when playing in the street.

Do we recommend Dinky Street? YES!

Would we go back? YES! - Sadly we’re not local as we’d go loads, but regardless I’d be willing to travel to Dinky Street every couple of months to visit 👍🏻
