Excalibur

The Legend of Excalibur, the fabled Sword of Kings, is brought to colourful, vibrant life over three days as Hedingham Castle is transformed into Camelot by the incredible Black Knight Historical!

All your favourite characters will be here for you to meet - King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, the brave Knights of the Round Table, Merlin the Wizard, the treacherous Sir Mordred, the beguiling Lady of the Lake, the witch queen Morgan le Fey, rival Kings, not forgetting the Squires, Archers, Cooks, Ladies and Minstrels who make the place come alive.

Journey back with us to the years of High Chivalry, and see the Legend come to life, with Uther Pendragon, The Sword in the Stone, Queen Igraine and young squire Arthur, Magic, Politics and rival factions, a huge Round Table seating 16 Knights, thrilling Tournaments, and a final, calamitous battle between the forces of King Arthur and his son, Sir Mordred.

Have a go at Archery, enjoy the wonderful medieval atmosphere and delight in this brand new event at Hedingham Castle! Amazing fun for the whole family! Under 4s go free. 1- and 2-adult family tickets available. Free parking onsite.

There will be lots of food stalls to choose from, picnics are also welcome. Well behaved dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead at all times.

MONDAY 8TH MAY

👑CORONATION TRAIL👑

To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, Hedingham Castle and Gardens will be open on Monday 8th May for those looking to get outside, relax and make the most of the extra bank holiday. There will be a Coronation Trail for the kids - kings and queens through the ages will be hidden around the grounds for you to find, can you discover them all?

Bring a picnic and make a day of it, explore the Castle and enjoy some fresh air. The tearooms will be open serving light refreshments and lots of cake - we are British after all!

Open 11am-3pm. Dogs on leads welcome.

SUNDAY 28TH MAY - MONDAY 29TH MAY

⚜️Knights of Royal England Joust⚜️

The spectacular Knights of Royal England are returning to Hedingham Castle for a Bank Holiday weekend of fantastic medieval entertainment! Watch them battle it out in front of the ancient Keep and marvel at their skill and prowess on horseback. With two Jousts to enjoy each day, alongside plenty of fun activities and displays, there is something for everyone. Enjoy a variety of pursuits including archery, axe throwing, mechanical horse riding and much more, as well as food stalls serving a variety of delicious lunches and snacks. The Castle is open to explore and the gardens are the perfect place to run off some energy (please just be aware of the open water in the form of our lake and formal pond). A fantastic day out for the whole family.

Gates open at 10am each day, with the first Joust starting at approximately midday and the second Joust starting at approximately 3pm. Free onsite parking available. Under 4s go free. 1- and 2-adult family tickets available.

Please note: dogs are NOT permitted at this event due to the presence of horses and birds of prey.
