What a fab little spot this is! The Ginger Monkey Play Cafe and Boutique has everything you need to keep you and your little one entertained for a few hours.
When we arrived we were shocked by how much space there is. As well as a seating area, a play area and a clothing boutique they have a room for hire closed off for parties and classes/workshops and still have enough space for the smaller humans to run around in (trust us they will love it).
We loved the small touches around the place - the bookcase full of children’s books, the herb planters on the wall and the glass urns full of plain and flavoured water for you to drink at your leisure. Free wifi is also available.
The whole place is well lit and pleasing to the eye but the real draw for the kids is the play area. This section is cordoned off with a gate to ensure safety and the walls are super colourful which will interest the youngest of little ones. We would say that the play area is suitable for 0-4yrs and has lots of different toys and activities to cover the age range such as a small shop and kitchen, boxes of toys and cuddlies, chalk boards, ride on toys and a cushioned area with toys for smallers babies. The play area is free to play in. We would recommend that children are supervised in the area.
The cafe part of the establishment is amazing. They have a good selection of hot and cold food and drink including vegan and gluten free options. They also have a section on their menu dedicated to children and we were impressed to see their weaning platter with options of how many items you might want. We thought the prices were very reasonable with the most expensive hot drink being £2.80 and nothing on the food menu appeared to be above £8. We had breakfast while we were there and it was tasty and filling.
They had numerous highchairs which all appeared to be clean and we were particularly impressed with the lack of disposable plastic straws and cutlery. The cafe is clearly aware of it’s plastic waste which is a huge thumbs up from us.
Baby change and toilet facilities are on site. The baby change is separate from the toilet which is a nice touch and the area smells pleasant. There is also a feeding chair in the baby change for those that may want more privacy when breastfeeding. The cafe is breastfeeding friendly.
On to the clothing boutique. All the clothing in the area has been personally chosen by the owner. The boutique features many well known instagram brands and is a great place to browse if you are looking for handmade children’s clothing that you won’t get on the high street. There is also a small selection of adult clothing available.
All in all we love this place. The staff were friendly and attentive and I wouldn’t hesitate to approach them if I needed their assistance. Our small human enjoyed the play area and we were all pleased with the tasty food. It is a great meeting place for friends as well as a place to visit as a family or alone with the toddlers.
