Interactive for all ages including adults. We cooked toast on the open fire, made brass rubbings and worked a1950's switchboard. Kept us busy for nearly 5 hours. Great giggle and lots of very interesting and fun learning! My children are 8 & 9 yrs of age. My 13 year old niece also came and she loved it too.

Just love this place. From going through the front doors into the main house, everything is excellent. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and the experience is completely child friendly. My two love making toast on the toasting fork in the kitchen, taking part in the school room., looking at all the old toys ( asking Nannie if she played with them!! Not quite but I did recognise a few items). The old street with its shops is great, they love playing with the old phines, ringing one shop to the other. Then on to the old stable area. Into the telephone exchange, Popping into the cafe en route for a cuppa and a sit down. Then on to the transport area. Outside some play equipment has been installed but wasn’t yet open when we visited in Feb half term and don’t miss the air raid shelter in the garden. There is a new exhibition area which is in the process of being completed with should be open soon. All in all a great day out, spending most of the day here. Great.

Really impressed with this place. Probably more interesting for over 5s but we went in half term with three 4 years olds and a 2 year old who were suitably entertained as there were lots of activities including colouring and toasting bread on the fire. The staff were all really engaging and great with the kids. Small cafe offering sandwiches and cakes, good value.

In 14 years of living here, I'd never been to this museum. SO glad I have now - it was brilliant! I took my mum and my kids, 13 and 11 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The phone room was so much fun - we were in there for ages! We got there around lunchtime and didn't think to ask where the cafe was first, so we ended up going through the entire museum before we found it. We were starving when we got there. It feels like walking round Ikea as there seems to be a single route through (with cafe at the end!). We missed a bit at the beginning so went back in and the amazing volunteer staff talked with us for ages and showed us a few things that weren't for general viewing! It felt quite special. In fact, we were there long after closing! They are very passionate about the place. Fantastic visit. Will definitely be going again.

I haven't visited this museum for about 10 years and was pleasantly surprised to see how it's developed and grown. There is lots to see and do; history really does seem to come to life here! Eras covered, and artefacts on display, date from Victorian times to present day. My son particularly enjoyed all the old telephones which can be played with...buttons galore! Today was not a picnic kinda day but I could see how that would be lovely given better weather. The only spoiler was slightly grumpy staff but I'm wondering if it was just the end of a long busy day for them. Plenty of parking for free. Definitely worth a visit.

We visited the MK Museum for A Victorian Family Christmas at the beginning of December, and were pleasantly surprised at the vast amount of artefacts, displays and historical re-enactments available for the whole family. A ticket into the museum grants you repeated access for 12 months from the date of purchase. Stepping back in time as we entered the house, we found ourselves transported to the Victorian era where crackling fires, carols and parlour games greeted us in one room, while gramophones and organ grinders entertained us in another. The rooms were small so pushchairs... Read more on my blog here.... Seasonal opening hours (only open on weekends throughout winter!) Check the site for details.
