The Crocky Trail

The Crocky Trail

Open today from 1000 until 0500

My children are 9 and 7 and we have visited a lot of places to entertain them but nothing ever matches up to this place. It is like going back in time before health and safety went mad. It is about mud and slides and so much more. There is a nature trail with loads of fun such as mazes, rope swings and bridges. There is also a park all made from what seems like recycled bits of rubber and metal. Think of a homemade Ninja Warrior and you are not far off. You can upgrade your ticket to a year long membership which is totally worth it.

(Pregnant women go in for £7!)

This place is fantastic and will entertain children of all ages, even those tricky teens. There are two park areas full of these amazing slides made out of massive sheets of plastic, in ever-increasing steepness and all sorts of other rides such as a spinning barrel to run through, an inflatable bucking bronco bull and a very dark indoor maze. There's a near vertical slide called The Flusher where the operator pulls a lever and the floor drops away from your feet, the Titanic where you sit down and the operator makes the slide get steeper and steeper whilst you try to stay in place, before machinery makes the slide bump and shake, trying to shake you free. And one of my favourites, the Zombie Trap, where you slide into a room but to get out, you have to try and climb up a fairly steep wall. It's so much fun. Then the trail itself must be a good couple of miles in total and is full of fun things to do along the way - like cargo net bridges across the stream, prison traps for dads to get locked in, more mazes etc. The trail is really long and there are no toilets or kiosks en route so use the loos and take drinks/snacks (definitely drinks) with you on the trail. If it's been raining, wellies, towels and perhaps a change of clothes in the boot of the car may be a good idea. I've gone to this place with my own kids and gone with friends and their kids and without exception, everyone has loved it - including the adults. It's a full day activity every time we go and we would happily stay longer if they'd extend the opening hours!

We went here with 4 kids and they came home muddy and tired! A huge success! My 4 year old is the most adventurous of the bunch and was 6 months too young to do all the slides she wanted!! The trail itself is still brilliant and we laughed the whole way!
