Our Top 10 family friendly places in Sussex!

Looking for family friendly places to visit? You’ve come to the perfect place; we’ve got you covered! Whether it’s sandy toes and salty kisses on a stunning beach, reaching new limits on the climbing wall or picking the most delicious strawberries, Sussex will have something the whole family will love!

Sussex is a beautiful county with the South Downs one side and the seaside the other, we are absolutely spoilt for choice of wonderful places to visit and fun things to do. In every corner, in every town there’s always a little hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

As family of four with an eight-year-old and a 2-year-old, finding something that suits us all can sometimes be a little bit tricky... so we’ve shared our top ten favourite family places to visit in Sussex!

Fishers Farm - Wisborough Green -0-12 years

A wonderful family run farm park situated in the beautiful West Sussex countryside. This award-winning park has something for the whole family with friendly animals to say hello to and heaps of rides to explore, along with an incredible soft play, tractor rides and a brilliant splash pad there is so much to do! Grab a bite to eat in their food outlets or take a picnic in one of their plentiful picnic spots and spend the whole day having endless fun!

Little mum tip – take your spare clothes for the splash pad, even if it’s a bit cloudy it’s just irresistible to our little ones!

 

West Wittering Beach - West Wittering - All ages

Shimmering sand and glistening waters, West Wittering is a stunning beach and the perfect place to spend the day in the sunshine. With an on-site cafe, toilets, showers, and lifeguards there’s everything you could need for a gorgeous day building sandcastles, taking a dip, and relaxing on the beach. Pop to the lifeguard hut too for a little ‘lost child’ wrist band to help keep your children safe. Simply pop your name and number on there just for that little bit of added safety! Parking is bookable online and whilst there’s sometimes a bit of a queue to get in, it’s without doubt worth it. You won’t be disappointed!

Out of Bounds Rustington

Rustington - All Ages - There’s so much to do at Out of Bounds, indoors is home to a fabulous clip and climb, a bowling alley, and a fresh and bright soft play. Outdoors you’ll find some jumping pillows and a brilliant adventure golf, along with their brand-new outdoor adventure nets too! Pop along and have some fun... it’s a fab place to try out some new skills.

Roundstone Pick your own - Ferring -All Ages

Delicious strawberries, yummy mangetout, and a whole heap more is available at Roundstone pick your own. Simply grab yourself a punnet and pick whatever takes your fancy, hop around on the free tractor ride that takes you around the crops to save those little legs! Once you’re done you simple pay for what you’ve picked! It’s that simple! Why not grab an ice cream at the end and enjoy tasting that wonderful fruit and veg that you’ve just picked! This is a fab low-cost family fun option that the kids will love… it’s also a great way to spark their interest about where our food comes from too!

*As tempting as it is to dress them in their beautiful clothes for that insta worthy photo – strawberries do stain so just be careful with those white dresses! *

Tilgate Park - Crawley - All Ages

Take a stroll around the beautiful lake, explore the woods, or enjoy visiting the nature centre. Home to some lovely little animals and creatures and a great place for little ones to explore. (There is a little charge for visiting the nature centre and it is currently bookable online). Once you’ve finished exploring you can recharge in the Smith and Western restaurant or if you’re still bursting with energy why not give Go Ape a go too! There’s plenty to do and if you don’t want too then aside from parking, you don’t need to spend a penny to have fun here!

 

Harbour Park - Littlehampton - All Ages

Oh, let the fun begin…! Harbour Park is great place to spend the day and with unlimited ride passes starting from just £18 (when booked in advance!) it really is brilliant value. Take a splash on the log flume or put those driving skills to the test on the dodgems or try your luck on the 2p machines, whatever takes your fancy you’re sure to have fun! You can always grab yourself a bucket and spade and build sandcastles on the beach too or see if you can catch a crab in the boating lake. If you fancy exploring a little further, then you can hop aboard the traditional seafront train and take in that lovely sea breeze too!

 

Bluebell Railway- Uckfield - All Ages

Hop Aboard! Little train lovers will love visiting the beautiful steam trains that the Bluebell Railway has to offer. Visiting the Bluebell Railway is just like stepping back in time and there is just something magical about spending time on-board a vintage locomotive and taking in the stunning views of the East Sussex countryside. Check their website for prices and train times before visiting!

 

Jump in Burgess Hill - Burgess Hill - Walking upwards

Let them bounce away in this incredible inflatable park that’s perfect for all ages! Can you beat your friends on the obstacle course, throw yourself onto the giant airbag or maybe if you’re feeling brave enough you might give the zip wire ago too! Jumpin really is fantastic family fun and with a soft play for under 5’s and a café serving all you could need, it’s just the place you need to burn off all that endless energy!

Wakehurst Place - Haywards Heath - All Ages 

Get exploring the good outdoors at Wakehurst. With stunning gardens, woodland, and a nature reserve to there’s plenty of places to get close to nature. Climb amongst tree trunk trek and let their imagination run wild with willow tunnels and mud kitchens too. Make wonderful discoveries and enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery. Keep your eyes peeled on their website too for things happening and events taking place.

Drusillas Park - Alfriston - All Ages

Take a trip to Drusillas and discover animals such as Monkeys, Sloths, Penguins and so much more! You can feed the lorikeets in Lory landing or take a walk with lemurs too, there really are some fantastic opportunities to get up close and personal with the animals, and they’re just one bit of the fun! There are endless play areas, a splash pad and rides like the Flying Cheetahs or Hello Kitty’s Hopper! A fun filled day for the whole family!

Washbrooks Family Farm -  Hurstpierpoint - 0-8 years

Younger ones will absolutely love it at Washbrooks, with their endless play areas, jumping pillows and heaps of space to run, its perfect for the little ones. You’ll find all your farmyard favourites in their animal barn and don’t forget to hop on the tractor and see the animals in the field too. Washbrooks is a wonderful family run farm and has a lovely atmosphere for all the family to enjoy! Stop off in their café too for some delicious homemade food too.
